This year was my first time teaching English as a Foreign language to children.
I spent two intense weeks in one of Berlitz’s English Camps for Kids in Cochem, Germany.
As a camp counselor I had the responsibility of teaching the children English during the day and assisting in the organization of fun activities for them during the evening.
It was an action packed two weeks, between correcting papers in the evening and supervising the kids during the day, there wasn’t much time to sleep. Though, I have to say it was a very rewarding experience.
As an English as a Foreign Language Teacher it was a pleasure to see how much the children improved their English in a short period of time.
Also I got to learn from veteran camp counselors as well as a top notch camp director about what it takes to help the children utilize their English skills without making seem like they were back in school.
I’ll definitely repeat the experience in the near future.
