BBC News – Electronic cigarettes challenge anti-smoking efforts.

Its been some time since I’ve posted anything in my blog.

I’ve been quite busy teaching English online and studying for my Masters in Microsystems Engineering here in Germany.

As summer has finally rolled in here in Germany I notice more and more that smoking cigarettes is still quite common place here.

In the US smokers have either been characterized as victims of the evil cigarette manufacturing empire or vilified for spreading cancer causing second hand smoke. They’ve been limited to open outdoor areas and there is talk of banning even this scarce privilege.

There is no such stigma here in Europe, the smoking culture is alive and well here and most non-smokers like myself accept this grudgingly hoping one day to see the end to the social cache of casual smoking.

Now I see hope in the horizon with the coming of age of the electronic cigarette. A cool smokeless way for those looking to quit conventional cigarettes without losing their social clout.

The question now arising from the European regulators looking to get a grip on this fast growing industry is if this solution to Europe’s smoking problem is as safe as it seems?

Apparently quality levels vary as stated in this BBC article and the EU commission is still discussing a comprehensive strategy to insure it’s safe regulation.

Tell me what you think!

And if you’re finding it hard to quit smoking but still want a healthier alternative. As smoking is generally known to be more dangerous than vaping, in an effort to promote the safer alternative below you’ll find a few products that might help you to transition from smoking to vaping… Vape safely!!!
